Leading With Sustainability

John F. Kennedy once said“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.” Eenhoorn LLC’s purpose is quite simple – providing unsurpassed service and innovative, efficient homes for our residents. With that purpose at the forefront, we tirelessly pursue upgrades that will improve the quality of life for our residents all while doing our part to keep our planet healthy. Among those projects, was a full HVAC system upgrade at Pineridge Apartments (Walker, MI).

HVAC Systems Upgrade

Built in 1986, Pineridge Apartments previously were heated and cooled using the PTAC in-wall style system common to that day for design. As engineering and HVAC efficiency has improved over the last few decades, PTAC style units struggled to keep up. In short, PTAC units served their purpose but have become less energy efficient as time has passed.

Our teams decided that our residents deserved an upgrade. They deserved more efficiency, more features, and more comfort. With that in mind, the PTAC systems were effectively shut down and new mini-split ductless systems were installed in every apartment. The new units became fully active in October of 2023 – just in time for the brisk West Michigan winter.

Reducing Resident Costs

Ductless systems consume significantly less electric than PTAC units which results in lower utility bills for the end user. Residents have already seen a decrease in overall monthly expenditures from 2022 to 2023 since the installation in October 2023. The expenses are anticipated to continue to decrease as these systems run through 2024. The mini-split systems overall have saved approximately 88,427kwh of electric consumption at Pineridge Apartments so far! To put that in perspective, that is roughly enough electricity to power 176,000+ refrigerators, 18 electric cars for a full year, or over 17 million Bluetooth headphones!

Much like President Kennedy said, purpose and direction are pivotal for success. Keeping sustainability and the wellbeing of our residents as the cornerstone of who we are enables us to achieve large scale efficiency projects. Adding innovative features like ductless mini-split systems contribute to our mission to create a healthier living environment in our communities.
